BBC presenter Claira Hermet was faced with a difficult decision. After her mother and sister both died from breast cancer, she was tested for the BRCA 1 gene. This gene is a genetic mutation that increases the likelihood of breast cancer in women by 85%.

The tests confirmed that she carried it.

Claira elected to bravely undergo the knife and have her breasts removed as a precaution. She decided to present her decision publicly on her blog and YouTube channel to try and raise awareness and money for the Genesis Breast Cancer Prevention Appeal.
