How many times have you smiled today? Even on a bad day, you probably smile too many times to keep track. The average adult smiles 20 times a day, but happy people tend to smile 40 to 50 times a day. Children smile up to 500 times a day, so you can imagine how difficult it would be to consciously decide to never smile again when you’re a kid.
However, at just 10 years old, Tess Christian decided to stop smiling for the sake of her skin.
Christian is 50 years old, and says that her method of wrinkle reduction is natural and effective. Though some people believe she’s unhappy, she says she is perfectly content and loves her life. “I just don’t feel the need to show it by walking around with a rictus grin on my face.”
As you can see in her pictures from the past, Christian took her no-smile rule very seriously.
Even when her daughter was born, she refused to smile.
Her friends joke around about her policy and call her Mona Lisa as a nickname.

I don’t think I could go a day without smiling, let alone 40 years. Do you think this really works? Or is it just bizarre?
