Clive Cooper from Sparks Fly Design is a sculptor, but he works with a medium you just wouldn’t expect. He is able to create the most fantastical and intricate works of art, just by carving watermelon. Watermelons, technically are 90%. So how one man is able to carve it’s sweet, crisp flesh into art? Lots of patience and a delicate touch. The sculptures he creates are inspired by pumpkin carving designs. Although the flesh of this fruit is a little different than a pumpkin’s, the outcome is still spectacular. Move over ice swans, there’s a new sculpture in town.
He made this work of art by carving watermelon like you would a pumpkin.
It’s incredible just how detailed these watermelon sculptures can be.
Typically, they are carved to be food displays…
But this is MUCH better.
Clive Cooper is so talented.
Watermelon flesh can turn soft pretty quickly, so this is delicate work.
Imagine spending hours on these melons…
Then being able to take the first big bite.
